Shon Zimmerman specializes in evaluating juvenile salmonid passage and behavior at hydroelectric dams, and wetlands surveying techniques. He has recently participated in projects that assessed juvenile salmonids reach survival, deployed acoustic telemetry systems for monitoring behavior and survival for entire river systems, and applied surveying and GIS techniques for wetland restoration and monitoring. Mr. Zimmerman has improved DIDSON monitoring efficiencies for use in passage research, created new sampling methodologies used in survival and behavior studies, developed data processing automation techniques for a variety of projects, managed survey and vegetation data, and incorporated GIS into planning and post-processing. Mr. Zimmerman has expanded his areas of expertise into wetlands monitoring and restoration with the use of RTK/GPS and traditional land survey techniques and GIS. He has developed new techniques for sampling in wetlands environments and has participated in the development of a standardized set of elevation monitoring protocols for wetlands environments.
